THE ARTIFACT: THE MYCELIUM

The composition opens like a page from a carefully kept field manual. At the top, a mushroom fruiting body stands in simple profile—cap, gills, and stem rendered with clean, instructional linework. But the eye is quickly drawn downward, where the real subject spreads across the page: an intricate web of mycelium threading through the soil. Using the precise visual language of scientific diagramming, the artist maps delicate hyphal strands sweeping outward in fine, branching lattices, connecting to roots, decaying wood, and other micro-organisms beneath the surface.
The soil profile is cut away in cross-section, revealing layers of texture: tiny pebbles, darker pockets of humus, fine sand, and bits of decomposed leaf litter. Mycelial threads are highlighted subtly, perhaps in a lighter tone or fine ink, so they stand out against the muted earth palette. Preserving the Artifact
To maintain the integrity of the fiber density and the fidelity of the print, we recommend the following protocol:

• Wash: Machine wash cold with like colors. Turn the garment inside out to protect the artwork.
• Dry: Hang dry is preferred to "cure" the fit. Tumble dry on low if necessary.
• Iron: Never iron the design directly.
