THE ARTIFACT: THE PICKER

A painterly hand study of rough, earth-stained fingers carefully twisting a mushroom from the soil, capturing the tenderness at the heart of foraging.
The focus narrows to a pair of hands, emerging from the edge of the frame against a backdrop of blurred forest floor. Rendered in a painterly style that lingers on skin, light, and gesture, the hands are weathered yet precise—knuckles scratched, nails stained with earth, faint traces of old calluses along the fingers. They cradle the base of a mushroom where cap meets stem, thumb and forefinger gently twisting, not yanking, as they work the fungus free from the soil without tearing the mycelial threads below.
The mushroom itself is painted with care: a firm cap mottled with specks of forest debris, a pale stem that catches the soft light slipping through overhead branches. Surrounding the focal point are hints of moss, fallen leaves, and pine needles, all loosely defined so as not to compete with the central gesture. The color palette leans into warm earth tones balanced by cool forest greens, giving the moment a grounded intimacy. Preserving the Artifact
To maintain the integrity of the fiber density and the fidelity of the print, we recommend the following protocol:

• Wash: Machine wash cold with like colors. Turn the garment inside out to protect the artwork.
• Dry: Hang dry is preferred to "cure" the fit. Tumble dry on low if necessary.
• Iron: Never iron the design directly.
