Morning fog lays low across the forest service road, a thin veil clinging to the mossy embankments as the trail stretches toward the foothills. A mud-terrain tire, still wet from crossing a shallow creek below, sits half-sunken in the soft earth. Beneath it, the mud spreads in concentric ridges—only here, in the quiet magic of Cartographic Surrealism, the treads begin to morph into sweeping topographic lines. Each ridge arcs like a contour traced across a wilderness map, revealing the hidden geography beneath the forest floor.
The colors shift gently from deep earthen browns to muted forest greens and slate-blue shadows, the palette echoing the subdued tones of a PNW morning. A faint breeze carries the scent of cedar and wet gravel, and sunlight pushes through the canopy in thin slivers.
